BEYOND BOUNDS · ELECTRIC!

BEYOND BOUNDS • ELECTRIC!, the biennial art auction benefiting the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art, offers a unique opportunity for artists and one-of-a-kind purchases for art patrons. For this year’s event, the museum chose to send artists Blue mediums (oil paints, pastels, watercolor, liquid acrylic, colored pencil, ceramic, underglaze, enamel paint and textile dye),  thus completing an homage to primary colors. Previous events celebrated Red (2009) and Yellow (2011). The word ELECTRIC was selected to signify Electric Blue, as well as the excitement generated by museum and gallery openings or auctions.

BEYOND BOUNDS • ELECTRIC! celebrates the 10th anniversary of this major fundraiser for Nerman MOCA. Accordingly, the museum has chosen to honor all previous chairs of past events and galas. “Many of Kansas City’s most renowned collectors eagerly await each Beyond Bounds,” said Bruce Hartman, executive director.

Beyond Bounds is national and international in scope, with works ranging from major paintings. As always, numerous Kansas city-based artists are participating in Beyond Bounds with each employing the color Blue. “The many works by area artists are most impressive.” Hartman said. “We are so indebted to their incredible generosity.” Completed, signed works will be sold during live and silent auctions. Once again, all Beyond Bounds works will be exhibited in the Nerman Museum’s extraordinary first floor galleries. Additionally, a major color catalogue will accompany this important fundraiser. Hundreds of artists, collectors, museum professionals and arts enthusiasts will attend this year’s event.

“ELECTRIC! features the most extraordinary array of artists to ever participate in Beyond Bounds. The works are fantastic.” Hartman said. Over 155 works of art will be available for sale at the event, including paintings, photographs, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, works on paper and videos.
