The Oppenheimer Collection is the core of the museum’s permanent collection. It is showcased within three permanent collection galleries and throughout the campus.
About the Oppenheimers
The renowned Oppenheimer Collection of JCCC was founded in 1992 by philanthropists Marti and Tony Oppenheimer and the Oppenheimer Brother’s Foundation. It includes monumental sculptures sited across the grounds, as well as major paintings, photographs, works on paper, and ceramics.
In 2004, the Oppenheimers began assembling a collection specifically destined for the new Nerman Museum. Traveling widely with Nerman Museum Director, Bruce Hartman, they have amassed almost 100 works by emerging and established artists (internationally, nationally, and regionally recognized) which comprise the core of the museum’s Permanent Collection.
The Oppenheimer Collection is featured within the Nerman Museum’s second floor galleries. The Collection continues to grow, as new works are acquired each year. Changing exhibits within the Permanent Collection Galleries allow visitors to view differing aspects of this renowned collection.
A book of the Oppenheimer Collection is available through the Nerman Museum Store.
