Join us for an introduction to birding! We’ll explore using technology to record and identify birds on the JCCC campus. Apps like Merlin and iNaturalist can be very helpful in getting started. Listening to birds is often the first step to seeing them. Find out how the experts use bird calls to see and identify our feathered friends with Ethan Duke, Co-Director / Co-founder of the Missouri River Bird Observatory.

This program is inspired by the exhibition Actions for the Earth: Art, Care, & Ecology, which includes artists from around the world whose works seek to explore how we may deepen our connections to the land through many different modes, including listening. Participants will meet at the Nerman Museum lobby before heading outside.

Note: Wear weather appropriate clothing, this program will involve walking outdoors.
