Nerman Museum Educational Resources for Faculty

The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art offers a variety of educational programs and resources for faculty in all disciplines.

Visiting Artists Presentations

On the Third Thursday of selected months during the spring and fall semester, JCCC faculty moderators partner with the museum in hosting visiting artist presentations. The primary audience includes students interested in studio art and art history. The presentations are given in the NMOCA's Hudson Auditorium. Refer to our calendar for upcoming programs during the months of February, March, April, September, October and November.

Tours and Class Visits

We provide guided tours and facilitate instructor-led tours for JCCC classes not only from fine arts and art history, but also humanities, anthropology, architecture, graphic design, interactive media, theater, English, speech, foreign language, history, fashion illustration, psychology, nursing, marketing, sociology, criminal justice and early childhood education.

Outcomes

The museum’s tour program serves the JCCC campuswide curriculum outcome for comprehending, analyzing and synthesizing written, visual and aural material. The museum provides a rubric for assessment of this outcome from beginner to critical thinker.

Assignments

Instructors from arts and humanities, English, debate, foreign language, psychology and more use the museum’s collection in their assignments each semester. The museum provides digital resources and professional development opportunities for faculty members to make use of the collections and exhibitions in their class assignments.

Noon at the Nerman

Throughout the academic year, the museum presents an interdisciplinary series of Noon at the Nerman gallery talks, organized by JCCC faculty and designed for an audience of students, faculty and staff.
