Museum Governance

Governance

The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art is a department of Johnson County Community College, and as such, it is a public institution. The college funds the operations of the museum through its annual budget. Educational and exhibition programming, as well as acquisitions, are enhanced through museum memberships and private, corporate and public contributions and grants.

Johnson County Community College's elected board of trustees is the sole governing body of the college and of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art. As such, the board of trustees, through its designated college staff, makes all decisions pertinent to museum policies and operations. The college staff, with input from an advisory board, decides the features, programs and curricula for the development of contemporary visual arts exhibitions and visual arts education programs, as well as the permanent collection for the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art and the campuswide art installation program.
