Young Artists Retreat

Nominate outstanding high school seniors to learn more about careers in the arts.


The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at Johnson County Community College, alongside artist and educator Harold Smith, will host a FREE Young Artists Retreat this fall, Friday, October 25, 2024 for high school seniors in the vicinity of Johnson County and the Kansas City Metro region.

The retreat will feature local artists and arts professionals speaking and providing interactive learning opportunities about skills related to careers in the arts.

The program runs 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., with optional post-retreat activities 1:30-2:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Limited space available; participating students must be nominated to attend.

Teachers, educators, and school administrators may nominate several students to attend.

Key Dates for Student Nominations

  • Nomination Deadline: Sunday, September 15, 2024
  • The Nerman Museum will select and confirm participating students on the week of September 16-20, 2024

We are also welcoming interest from organizations that want to host a vendors table at this event.

Key Dates for Vendor Interest

  • Interest Form Deadline: Friday, Oct. 18, 2024
  • Confirmations will be announced via email by Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024 to the email on the interest form.
