Letterlocking Workshop with Laura Pensar
Secure notes without using an envelope!

Join us in The Salon for Possible Futures on Saturday, September 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. to learn basic letterlocking techniques and discuss the very human practice of passing secret notes. No experience necessary.
Letterlocking is the art of folding and securing messages on paper without using external envelopes. Learn how to create tamper-evident documents by hand using small slits, tabs, and folding techniques that allow the intended recipient to tell if the message has been intercepted. This unique practice is one of the earliest forms of document security.
The workshop is led by Laura Pensar, a writer and artist with a professional background in tarot, printmaking, candle-dipping, and passing notes.
This event is free, but space is limited and an RSVP is required.
Amy Kligman: The Salon for Possible Futures is on view in the Nerman Museum’s Oppenheimer New Media Gallery, Second Floor through December 21, 2025.
