A lovely confluence of pastoral folk and baroque pop in our own backyard!

Join the Midwest Trust Center and the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art for the 2026 Light Up the Lawn Concert Series. Mark your calendars for August 14 when we welcome The Swallowtails for some of the best live music in Kansas City.

A premier act in Kansas City, The Swallowtails have grown a large and loyal following. Established in 2018, the band has released two full-length albums: “Right Where We Are” (2020) and “The World Still Spins” (2023). In 2024, they redefined their sound as a duo and wrote, produced, and self-recorded their five-song EP “Lucky Penny” (2024).

Come celebrate the group Pitch Magazine named the “Best Local Band in Kansas City.” NPR’s 90.9 The Bridge called their latest work “A lovely confluence of pastoral folk and baroque pop.” The band’s rock, folk, pop, and classical sound makes this the perfect summer evening!

See some of the best live music Kansas City has to offer at this FREE concert on the Nerman Museum lawn. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnic baskets (no alcohol), and get ready for an amazing night! No reservations required.
